Vodafone is calling…
Weekly Money Moves: Last week marked a significant uptick in overall funding, surging from $2.1 billion to $2.9 billion, showcasing a remarkable 39% increase week-over-week. Surprisingly, the spotlight shifted away from the usual frontrunner, Biotech, as a colossal round by Vodafone Idea, a NY listed Mumbai-based mobile phone operator, stole the show with a staggering $2.1 billion offering. Manufacturing also made notable strides, securing substantial funding with AZZ and Flagship Communities leading the charge, raising $280 million and $60 million respectively. In a rare turn of events, Biotech took last week’s third spot, a departure from its typical dominance, with a total of $185 million raised, led by Centessa Pharmaceuticals' $100 million offering.
Among the noteworthy mentions is Caliber Mining (TSX:CXB), which successfully concluded its previously announced offering, raising CAD $115 million. Additionally, AbraSilver Resource (TSX-V:ABRA) secured CAD $20 million in funding just four days after its announcement, with strategic investors Kinross and Central Puerto each contributing $10 million, underlining the confidence in the venture's potential.
