Turbulent Skies: Activist investor & shareholder Elliott Investment Management has bought a $1.9 billion stake in Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) and is looking to force out the CEO, which has struggled with both operational and financial problems.
Weekly Money Moves
Last week saw an incredible jump of 181% from $2.7 billion to $7.6 billion total raised, a new record since we've been tracking the north American equity markets funding efforts. QXO, after leading last week with a $1 billion offering, raised another $3.5 billion this week putting the Tech sector at the forefront with $3.5 billion raised. Followed by Southwest Airlines taking the Transportation & Airline sector to 2nd place, with an activist investor buying $1.9 billion worth of the company, and lastly Biotech in third with Avidity Bio raising $409 million contributing to the 17% or $1.3 billion total raised for the week.
